You don't earn much because you have children?
For this, there is extra child benefit (Kinderzuschlag) according to the Federal Child Benefit Act (BKGG)
4 steps to a better life
- The first step is to check whether you have earned at least €3,600 gross as a single parent in the last 6 months (on average at least €600 per month) or at least €5,400 (average €900 per month) as a couple. If not, you are unfortunately not eligible for child allowance and have to apply for citizen's allowance, for example - unfortunately.
- In the second step, it is checked according to legally defined criteria whether your needs would be sufficient for yourself (if you had no children). Would your money be enough, good for you.
3. Step: Extra child benefit plus housing allowance
With extra child benefit + housing benefit, families almost always have significantly more money at their disposal than comparable families who receive the job center (citizen's allowance recipients).
